Borel is a board game based on the laws of probability.

BOREL

It challenges the player's skills in predicting outcomes and placing bets. A series of experiments are performed and whoever wins the most bets wins the game.

Borel is inspired by Émile Borel, a mathematician who lived during the Belle Époque. The game’s artwork and logo have references to the most prominent art movement of that era known as Art Nouveau.

An abstract image emerges from the unique typography of the logo. The letters “O” and “R” together create a symbol which is then used in several applications throughout the game. This design element reminds us of a face with eyes and moustache, indirectly pointing to the person who inspired this game, Borel.

The tagline - a game of chance, intuition, dice & other peculiarities- is also transformed into graphics. Chance is visualized by the four leaf clover, a universal symbol for luck. The two keys represent intuition, essential in “unlocking” mysteries and problem-solving. The dice and other peculiarities are pictured by an unusual die which has only one dot on one side.

The flat color choices separate the four playing areas and are used to color code other game elements. The use of geometrical shapes highlights the game's boldness and emphasizes its indirect connection to math.
